Missed Appointment and Cancellation Policy

Our goal is to provide quality health care to all our patients in a timely manner. No-shows, late arrivals, and cancellations inconvenience not only our providers, but our other patients as well. Please be aware of our policy regarding missed and cancelled appointments. At the end of the day, this policy is about being considerate of others.

Appointment Cancellation

When you book your appointment, you are holding a space on our calendar that is no longer available to our other patients. Your appointment reserves time with your specialist, scientific staff and scientific equipment. In order to be respectful of your fellow patients and the treating clinicians, please call the practice on 07 3123 5350 or email reception@respirologist.com.au as soon as you know you will not be able to make your appointment.

If cancellation is necessary, we require that you call at least 72 hours in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your advanced notice will allow another patient access to that appointment time.

How to Cancel Your Appointment

If you need to cancel your appointment, please call us between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM. If necessary, you may leave a detailed voicemail message. We will return your call as soon as possible.

Late Cancellations/No-Shows

A cancellation is considered late when the appointment is cancelled less than 72 hours before the appointed time. A no-show is when an appointment is not attended without cancelling.

Where there is a late cancellation, we will take reasonable steps to fill the cancelled appointment with another patient. In circumstances where the appointment cannot be filled or in the case of a no-show, we will charge 50% of the missed/cancelled appointment fee. This is on a cost recovery basis – this is the cost that we incur in making our services available to you for the booked appointment.

For new patients’ first appointments, a no show or late cancellation without reasonable explanation will result in a full charge of the new patient fee.

Reasonable consideration will be given in crisis situations (for example flood or bush fire) but reasons of inconvenience, difficulty or expense are not acceptable late cancellation/no-show reasons.
